Universal Studios Hollywood, Los Angeles, California

Universal Studios in Hollywood is a great place to visit. Before you reach the ticket gate you walk through “City Walk” this area is free and attracts thousands of visitors each year for shopping, bowling, movies and of course eating. The Hard Rock Caf has a home here as well as a dozen other eateries.

You will know when you have reached your destination and entrance to Universal Studios by large red carpet that leads way to the ticket counter. Of course everyone who visits Hollywood seems to be bitten by the “I want be a star” bug and must have their photo taken on the red carpet. So after you weave your way in and out of the crowd and reach the ticket booth you will hand over your $59 a person and be allowed in to the park.

In the early morning hours of June 1, 2008 a fire broke out on the back lot and many of the TV sets were destroyed. You may notice when you watch certain programs such as “Ghost Whisper” the town of Grandview is no longer the same quaint little town in the first two seasons. The movie set for Angelina Jolies recent movie “The Changeling” was completed destroyed as well.

While the park is more focused on TV and Movies so are the rides, if you want roller coasters and thrill rides you should visit Disneyland. However, that is not say that Universal Studios doesn’t have rides they have an 80 foot raft plunge ride that corresponds with the Jurassic Park Movies, The Simpson’s Ride is fun and the whole family will enjoy it.

All most all of the rides are family friendly that’s the best part of Universal Studio’s it’s geared for the family not the individual so most of the rides and attractions can be visited/rode by even the smallest members.

Universal Studio’s also offers the back lot tour which is currently closed due to the fire and still being rebuilt. It’s a fascinating experience if you love TV and movies to ride through your favorite fictions town or by your favorite shows “hang out spot” even if you only like one show that has it’s set there it really is worth the trip to be able to see it in person.

Many times you will also be able to catch a glimpse of the filming and see your favorite stars “at work.”

The park is open 365 days a year. Halloween is one of the best times to visit if you like a good scare. The tickets are $10.00 more but it’s worth it. The park is festively decorated for the holiday season.

There is plenty of fun to be had by all at Universal Studios Hollywood. For more information visit their website at:
